Taking a look back into the past summer...and the track that very much has the vibe of past bliss is... Dam Funk´s " A Day At The Carnival". Totally makes me miss those warm and breezy evenings on the beach with some great friends and cool beers.
Big bite for progressive people... very hot and just out here is a collection of 7 pieces of progressive house. Iv added my own favorite as a taste. Dinka is awesomeness :).

On August 27, 1990 LL Cool J teamed up with legendary producer Marley Marl to create one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time, Mama Said Knock You Out. “Don’t call it a comeback!” 20 years later, we here at KevinNottingham.com have gathered producers and emcees from all over the globe to remix a classic.
It all started 8 months ago with a weekly remix contest challenging producers to flip the original samples Marley Marl used to create the production for the album. 15 weeks later, the winning beats were chosen and the quest to find the right emcees to hop on these joints began.
After 8 months of hard work, I believe we have an album that greatly pays tribute to the original. Special thanks goes out to DJ Blacquestarr, DJ Grain, and Thomas (of KN.com) for helping with the contest. Thank you also to all the producers and emcees involved in this project… job well done. Last but not least, thanks to LL Cool J and Marley Marl for laying the blueprint and providing the inspiration for making this remix album possible.
I hope you all enjoy this remix album…

Ghosting is a project that gives listeners insight on the types of artists and music that inspires Buff1. Giving himself one week to write original material, Buff1 created this free project to be released into the blogosphere. Choosing songs that coincidentally had space for Buff1 to spit, none of the original songs have been edited.
Buff felt there were obvious similarities between the music on this project and one of his favorite Ghostface songs “Holla”; on which Ghost raps over the entire Delfonic’s song “La-La Means I Love You”. Ghosting also happens to be a game where one person follows behind another, mimicking their movements as closely as possible, without being detected.
The Ghostface homage, combined with Buff1 trying his best to follow in the footsteps of the artists who inspired him to write this project, made the title obvious. Lastly, don’t sleep on the exclusive bonus track “Better” produced by Slot-A. Buff1 was inspired by:
From Flash:
The Native Tongues were bigger than a mere posse/crew/click or what have you. They represented afrocentricity, positivity and most important….CREATIVITY!!! The Holy Trinity was Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, & A Tribe Called Quest. The music they made in the late 80s to mid 90s help transform and restructure Hip Hop. Their influence on the culture still resonates to this day. They showed us that the music, lyrics and concepts are limitless….there is no place ur mind can’t travel.
DJ Flash Gordon Parks puts together a lovely mix highlighting both De La & Tribe’s best moments…..Enjoy!!!

If you're like me and just finished watching the latest episode of Entourage, you were probably wondering what that song was at the end credit. The song is by a five piece band from Memphis who have caught my attention with Don't Give It Away. The track starts off with a crackling beat with dark pads, erie synths and a classic southern drawl rap. The song encompasses a gangster rap feel with soulful signing and ends off with some epic drums. The music supervisor responsible for Entourage (Scott Vener) let loose this track via his blog. Free Sol are new to me, I suggest we both hit up their latest free mixtape
Memphis hip-hop group FreeSol has hooked up with DJBooth.net to drop RockNRolla, a street album on which the live-band ensemble puts their spin on a variety of rock classics.
Hosted and presented by DJ Benzi, the 17-track project finds rapper Free, keyboardist Premo D’anger, drummer Kickman Teddy and vocalist/guitarist Elliot flipping memorable tracks by Smashing Pumpkins (“RockNRolla”), The Doors (“Before You Slip”), and many more.

Upon finding happiness Walker realized that the hardest part wasn’t finding it but rather holding on to it. In all of one week his car broke down, he was kicked out of his house, his aunt died; he was robbed at gunpoint for a MacBook and he lost close relationships with both his family and his friends.
In the midst of those happenings he grew up and 6 months later he prepared “I Remember When This All Meant Something.” The mixtape he calls an audio documentary declaring his maturity as both a man and human being; symbolizing his acceptance of how far detached from reality he was both in a spiritual and secular sense.
The 15-track mixtape features collaborations with Mr. Robotic, Bryant Stewart, Add-2 and Barron ‘Slot-A’ Bollar, who also serves as an executive producer.
Walker is best known for his debut mixtape “Evening out with Your Girlfriend,” released September 2009, which features Matt and Kim, Will.I.Am, Ayọ, and The Arctic Monkeys.
His latest mixtape is sure to serve as a turning point in both his life and his career and will make music fans everywhere remember when it all meant something.

“These past 3 months have been SUPER exciting for me.. behind all of the other projects i’ve been hard at work completing, I produced an album with a new group I formed.. we are called SMOKEY ROBOTIC… it’s POP.. it’s ELECTRO.. it’s HIP HOP..it’s “4 on the flooor”, there’s some singing.. some rapping.. a few ballads..but above everything else, it’s FUN music.. we were all completely free while making this album, and i’m so proud of it… I want to share it with you.. it’s 12 complete tracks.. bump it in the car, on the ipod during your commute, or anywhere that you want to just listen to music to make you happy….” – !llmind
Here's a couple tracks that are rocking me at the moment.... If I can find a download for them I will post it.
#1~
Luca C & Brigante 'Lucio' (Double Drop)I love this song. I'm calling it Cosmic Folk.... you can call it whatever you like... I didn't tell anyone about this song until I had my order confirmation from Juno records.... Luca C & Brigante 'Lucio' (Double Drop) by cmjct #2~ Cole Medina 'See The Light'AFIK this is unreleased... The soundcloud says it will be released on "Gimmie The Loot". I hope that comes on vinyl... No disrespect to Cole cause I know people have really liked his edits for the last few years but this is the first one that got my ears hard... For starters it's a beautiful and classic tune which appeals to fans of several genres... and I just like how Cole flips it. See The Light by cole medina
Dwele really has outdone himself this time. Becoming the true storyteller and the soul provider with his new release W.W.W. Mix of soul and hip hop makes a wonderfully smooth and intelligent sound. Handful of well-placed guest appearances and wise composition of lyrics, ranging from love to politics, makes this a must listen.

Hailing from what we all know to be the mecca of cutting edge comedy and one-man-beat-box-bands, Great Falls, Montana, Mr. Reggie Watts has been picking up steam on the comedy circuit and on the interwebs. Last year his performance of "I Just Want To" went kinda viral... As you can see from the youtube video dude's setup is lo-fi... so the quality of the audio on this download is sub-par demo quality at best.... however the creative content exceeds expectations IMO....
I don't know what the box on our left is... but the box on our right, which the mic goes through before it reaches the other sample, looper, mixer box thingy is a Line 6 Digital Delay modeling guitar effect peddle with built in single loop, w/ overdub feature... I have one of these in the garage, it's a fun box especially in reverse mode which gives you that Jimi Hendrix sound if you can play like Jimi, that is.... more info on the Line 6 Delay here
Morcheeba is out with its new album since June 7th and its titled "Blood Like Lemonade". Its album number seven in the long road of Morcheeba..and its the road of flow and mellow smoothness, like a cool breeze. Very much digging this record. Hope you do, too. Digging in the net i found this awesome Track By Track review with Paul Godfrey and I thought it was very cool and clever so..here it is now for you to enjoy...
P.S. Press play and read :)
blood like lemonade Track by Track with Paul Godfrey CRIMSON I’d always wanted to write stories about characters, but I’d never actually been any good at it until now. I’ve watched so many great movies over the past few years that I’ve managed to get my head around narrative (and it helped working with people like Jim White, Kurt Wagner and Slick Rick, who are all master storytellers), and it all came together on this record. The more I listened to what I’d written, the more I realised I was writing about us, or about me, but through other characters – so the opening line on the record is “On the roadside, by the wreckage”, and it really did feel like that, that Morcheeba was like this burnt-out car that was smouldering, and it was a case of how we were going to pick up the pieces. We had to pimp that ride!
EVEN THOUGH The lines about “the hidden dangers” and being “cast adrift in space” reflect worries about humanity. That was inspired by reading interviews with astronauts – they’d get into space and look back at the world, and couldn’t understand why people were still fighting with each other, and why we were destroying our own planet, that was so beautiful from a distance. The heavy breathing sound is an astronaut breathing in his helmet. He doesn’t have long to live, and at the end his breathing stops. He’s basically just trying to send a message that we should all get along.
BLOOD LIKE LEMONADE That’s about an ex-priest vampire bounty hunter, who goes around seeking revenge on bad guys and bandits, whose blood he drinks like lemonade. It seemed a bit weird at first, but the more I thought about, the cooler it sounded. It’s a strange simile, and the fact that it became the album title is even more bizarre. But vampires are pretty hip nowadays – all those movies where the music is really loud and the characters just whisper the screenplay..
MANDALA That’s Ross doing the harmonica on that. We used to call that kind of stuff ‘Ross left to his own devices’, because he’s such a sucker for that old blues sound – you know, the only thing that would make it sound contemporary would be a hip-hop beat and a bit of scratching. But that has a real charm of its own that we enjoy. I think maybe it’s a tribute to our heritage, it’s about accepting who we are and what our talents are: there’s nothing wrong with having a musical personality of our own, but we just didn’t consider that until seven albums in.
I AM THE SPRING This album started out sounding quite folky, before Skye came back, and there traces of that earlier stage still evident in this track. But we’ve always had folk and country influences, long before the ‘folktronica’ scene came about. We always used to joke, like Tom Wolfe, that if you want to be big, just do what we’re doing five years later. We were always too busy trying to do something new that we never really caught any waves. One of the ways I like to think about this record we’ve just done comes from my love for the Raymond Chandler books, and the way his novels came from short stories that he’d written for magazines, which he then interwove and refined into novels – so you’d have maybe three short stories made into a single novel. It made me appreciate that sort of genius, in a different way: instead of trying to be innovative all the time, why not take what you’re really good at, put it together and make something better than what you’ve already done? That’s something I’ve aspired to on this record.
RECIPE FOR DISASTER That’s another one where I’m writing from a character’s point of view. I used to see the lyrical process a necessary evil – but on this, it was so much more of a challenge to get inside these characters and their motivations, and also to have it slightly tongue-in-cheek, which I think is captured in ‘Recipe For Disaster’. Everybody’s so obsessed with cookery nowadays, and takes it so seriously: you’re not allowed to turn up drunk for a dinner party anymore.
EASIER SAID THAN DONE Skye suggested the idea for the theme and it was sort of written to explain to Skye that I understood how she felt about us, because there were still traces of bad blood left from the split.
CUT TO THE BASS That’s an updated version of the kind of esoteric, instrumental hip-hop thing that we’ve always done.
SELF MADE MAN Nothing teaches us as much as failure – failure taught me a whole lot more than success did, because I didn’t have a clue what I was doing when we were most successful. It’s kind of autobiographical, an acknowledgement that it took the three of us to get where we did. There was a period where we were all so bloody-minded and selfish with each other that the respect and appreciation had diminished. It’s me saying, Yeah, I’m on the other side of all that shit now.
BEAT OF THE DRUM I was hoping to conjure that seafaring vibe on this – it’s the gentle side of Vikings!
Just last week Detroit Grand Pubahs released a new single "Numb Deaf & Dumb" and as a bonus it brings along some wicked mixes by Space DJz and DJ Pierre. It kicks ass.

An offering from a couple Coalition DJ's...Most Outkast heads will have a lot of this material...I will admit its nice to have all the bangers in one place though....enjoy.
So, I came across Lars and The Hands Of Light some 4 months ago and I´v been greedy not to share it. I'm not sure if its the video or the song, but it got me playing it over and over. Iv included the original and the remix i liked the best.

n late 2009 southern California artist Ariano teamed up with Pennsylvania Producer Karl Lazlo to record a 10 song album "NOT FOR SALE". The album meshes the raw boom bap sound of Karl Lazlo and the smoo...th eerie tones of Ariano and forms the underground classic record "NOT FOR SALE". . All the beats were done in Philly and the vocals recorded in Southern California. "NOT FOR SALE" features guest appearances by Technicali artists C4mula, Nu3tron and local Orange County rappers The Rhythm Writers. Mixed by Ld and Mastered by Deeskee. Some intelligent music for you from Keaver and Brause. Its mellow and relaxing yet its unexpected. Give it a good listen I'm sure it wont be a disappointment.
Today, Fash dropped his latest mixtape, Ode to Illmatic, alot of people compared him and Nas when he first started making waves...pretty big pants to fill...but the cat is super dope and I think he can fill'em...
The new Madvillain album is still in working progress, however, the very first release is out since May 26th, and truthfully is a sweet bite. Short, but so delish.
At long last, the homie TiRon just dropped his latest project, MSTRD. The tape serves as the follow up to his '09 stand out release, Ketchup. Features on MSTRD include Ayomari, Blu, and Asher Roth. On the production side of things, $port, Oddisee, DOOM, Paul McCartney & Wings (seriously), DJ Dahi, and more handle the beats. I've been bumpin' this one heavy as of late, and although it's just 10 tracks, there are no throw-aways on here - give it a listen. Follow me after the jump for the download link and tracklisting.
Some of you know that in my humble opinion, The Tribe has been one of the illest, sickest, consistently innovative groups ever...Hands down one of my top 3 favorite groups EVER. So I was diggin around lookin for stuff I might not have and stumbled across a few singles/ep's & imports that Ive either had and lost or just plain didnt know existed.....And now...I bring them to you...

When I first started taking rapping seriously… there was a system of checks and balances, to prevent “wack mc’s” from fucking up music. And if I’m sending you this mp3 right now, it’s because I respect you, and I know you know that.
Rappers/MC’s had to be nice and have skill. Now… that has been replaced with having buzz, and blogging and shit, without paying dues. Fuck that.
I don’t know when it became taboo to diss wack MC’s… but that needs to be brought back.
People confused dissing rappers… with hating. And that’s crazy.
Much love… much respect… please pass this around to everyone you know… or throw it up on your sites, if you have one.

I sat here listening to this album and I haven't had such hard time before..trying to come up with the right word to describe this handful of music. Its a no filler, constantly changing and keeping you on your toes, type of ass kicking. Its safe to say at this point its becoming one of my favorites this year.

Under the label Klopfgeist Records Andreas Bergmann has just..a few days ago released his EP "The Big Hangover". I have not yet managed to get my greedy hands on all 4 pieces (original + The Big Hangover (DJ Remy Remix) and on the flip side The Big Hangover (Rik Woldring Headache Remix)+ Malbetrieb Recovery Program. This song here on display is the original as you may have guessed (or read in the title haha). I encourage you to keep your eyes and ears open for the remixes if the original got your heart beating faster.
Nick Warren, a man that has brought some of the greatest sounds to amuse those who love some real serious electronic music, has been hosting a bi-monthly show on Frisky Radio since this February. The two hour set of his greatness is named Sound Garden. What we have here, boys and girls, is his playlist that dates back to the end of April... I have added a taste..but take my word for it..its a constant non stop beating of progressive sound...and is a great find. Hope you do enjoy it as much as I have.

What is a mix of hip-hop, electronica and jazz..combined with traditional Chinese instruments?..You guessed it-- The Shanghai Restoration Project. The 2006 release is self titled and much influenced by 1930s Shanghai jazz bands. Its really like nothing else out there and very enjoyable.
